Enter to WIN – Loves Saves The Day by Gwen Cooper
We all love the book Homer’sΒ Odyssey by Gwen Cooper, right?! If you’re one of the unfortunate souls who still hasn’t read that amazing book, what are you waiting for (click here to get it at a bargain price – I’m selling one of my two copies)?!! It is one of the best books I’ve ever read… Well that was until the book I just read, also by Gwen Cooper. Love Saves the Day is her newest book, this time a fiction story told from the point of view of a cat. (Today you have the chance to win a copy – keep reading to find out how!)
The last 100 books or so that I’ve read have been non-fiction, so I wasn’t too sure about the idea of the cat telling the story, but the very first paragraph had me hooked! I was lol-ing on the train on my way to work, when I read Prudence the Cat’s view on humans and their ‘two ways of not telling the truth’:
“The first used to be hard for me to understand because it doesn’t come with any of the usual signs of not-truth-telling. Like the time Sarah called my white paws ‘socks’. ‘Look at your adorable little socks’, she said. Socks are what humans wear on their feet to make them more like cats’ paws.”Β
The second sign? Well you’ll just have to read the book to find out what Prudence thinks!
The novel goes on to tell the majority of the story from Prudence’s point of view, and teaches us about love, loss, change, as well as the subtleties cats notice in humans such as our energy and body posture. Its also a lesson in good manners and the foolishness of humans. Though this book is fiction, all of these things are true in our all too consumed lives, and we should all take a page out of Prudence’s book and apply it to the way we live each day. Especially if we live with cats.
“I’ve learned … that if I roll onto my back and pretend to be deeply asleep, Josh isn’t as likely to make me move. ‘She looks so comfortable’, he says to Laura. ‘I feel guilty’. Whenever he says this it makes me feel sorry for humans, who are forever doing the wrong thing and then having to be guilty about it.”
This unpredictable story will make you cry, it will make you look at your cat and wonder if they’re really a lot smarter than we give them credit for, and it will make you laugh til it hurts!
“Now Josh is talking to a type of human called a ‘headhunter’. This sounds like a strange thing to be, because why would somebody only hunt heads? Even if you could catch just a head, that’s the least-good part to eat!”
I won’t give too much more away, but instead, to celebrate Valentines Day today, myself along with the lovely Gwen Cooper, are giving you the chance to WIN a signed hard-cover copy of Love Saves The Day! Read carefully to find out how to be in the running:

I would love to win this book otherwise I’ll need to go look it up at the Library. Sounds fascinating! I read a book by John Gallo many, many years ago but keep telling people about it. The Abandoned or “Jenny” which is about a very sick boy who really begs for a kitty but parents will not allow it. A cat, Jenny, comes to his room and takes him on a journey through a cat’s life involving all the inner workings of a cat – how to listen, catch mice, and on and on.
Most fascinating – never forgotten it and one famous expression used that I ALWAYS THINK OF WHEN I’M WATCHING MY CATS IS “WHEN IN DOUBT, WASH!!!!” So true, do you not think? There have been other series of books that I’ve read – all most enjoyable and a far cry from the mysteries that I indulge in but also these ‘cat’ books are ones to keep! Sincerely hope I win. Thanks for the opportunity. Paws and purrs to all and Happy Valentine’s day!

Im already a subscriber! Love y’all! Please may I have it!
I’ve finally been able to follow the blog!
After viewing the blog from my smartphone and then via my Kindle Fire HD, I found the ‘bar’ on the right hand side of the screen that includes the option to subscribe and lists recent comments, tags, etc is not visible. It was only when I viewed the blog from my laptop that I was able to subscribe – could this be looked into, please? I very often browse via my smartphone and my Kindle as opposed to my laptop when I would expect to be able to view a full webpage on the browsers on all devices. I wonder why this was?
Oh well – I’m subscribed now and excited to see if I can be a winner! Good luck to everyone else!
Its typical for smart phones, Kindles, iPads etc to not let you see entire web pages, not just this on website Claire, but on many. You also probably wouldn’t be able to see the slide show on my Home page on anything other than a computer. It has nothing to do with the way this website is made, its to do with the actual smart phones etc. They only let you see the main content on certain web pages, not the extra bits that the smart phone, iPad etc deems ‘unimportant’. I can’t do anything about it – I would take it up with Apple (or whichever smart phone you have) although I doubt they will change anything. Unfortunately, smart phones and tablets are somewhat restricted as to what you can do on the internet and they still don’t compare to an actual computer (sometimes people tell me they can’t even post photos to my FB wall from their iPad)! Now that you have subscribed though, you’ll get the blog posts in your inbox
